Caitlin Campbell, a Martin
Middle School eighth
grader
was crowned Miss Tennessee Princess. She is thirteen years old and
the youngest contestant to hold the title.
A member of the Gifted Program, National Honor Society, Fellowship of
Christian Athletes, Student Council, and Library Staff, Caitlin was
chosen to compete on the Math Competition Team, received the Academic
Presidential Award and is annually in the Academic Top Ten of her
class. Caitlin is an avid reader and has won a young authors contest
for her children’s book, Midnight.
Caitlin’s passion for academic excellence is accompanied by her
passion for sports. As the captain for both her soccer and basketball
teams, Caitlin’s leadership and competitiveness helped both teams
have the best records in school history.
Caitlin
is active in her church, community and world. She is a member of
First Baptist Church, where she is a member of Cornerstone Youth
Choir, S.U.R.G.E. and Acteens. Caitlin has volunteered at the Agape
House and helps to organize a fundraiser “Bottles for Babies” to
raise money for young mothers who choose life. Caitlin has partnered
with Orphans Know More, a ministry founded by for uncle. She desires
to inform others of the plight of orphans in Uganda, an African
country ravaged by civil war and by the AIDS epidemic. She raises
money for the poorest children in the world to help give these
orphans a face, a family and a future. By creating awareness about
this program, orphans are being adopted; cared for, receiving the
medicines they need to live with AIDS and with enough financial
support are able to attend school.
Caitlin would ultimately love to travel to Uganda where the real work
is being done so she can have hands on experience working
with these remarkable children.
Caitlin is currently studying voice under the direction of Valli
Kugler Kelly, Miss Tennessee 2002 in hopes of following in her
footsteps one day.
She aspires to graduate high school with academic honors keeping a
balance of sports, community service, and church and to earn an
academic/sports scholarship to college. |
